Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it's queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Falling

Raindrops are drumming mournfully on the windows as I sit here, wrapped in a thick, warm sweater, writing. If I didn’t have other things to do I’d go hole up in the kitchen and bake for the rest of the day. Sigh… I’ll just do the next best thing; I’ll light a Master’s Hand Candle Co candle, Harvest, one of my favorites. I love the spicy tones of the candle. It reminds me of falling leaves and autumn.

Autumn is one of my favorite seasons; it’s a time of change, a time to look at the bounty of the passing year. It is a time to curl up on the couch with a really good book and a cup of mocha. Raking up leaves and watching little kids jump into the pile, squealing in delight as the make the leaves fall a second time. Some families like mine do a lot of cooking and baking during the autumn and winter months. Pies that fill the house with the spicy scents of cinnamon and cloves, the warmth of gooey apples, and the familiar scent of pumpkins that make you think of whipped cream. Or the cookies that we bake, snappy gingerbread, fresh lemon triangles, and to kill for chocolate crinkles.
Autumn gives us a chance to be in the kitchen for long periods that we never quite get in the summer time. Some of the best conversations I’ve had with my mom have been in the kitchen. And no, we’re not Italian. While the days get shorter you seem to have more time for family time, reading, watching movies. I thank God that he gave times of change; I think he knew how boring things would be without seasons of change.

A random poem I like.
A poem by Robert Frost:

October
O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
To-morrow's wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
To-morrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow,

Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know;
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away;
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes' sake, if they were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost--
For the grapes' sake along the wall.

I Think Obama Should Quit Now.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I'd like to introduce to you Mrs. Sarah Palin, the next Vice President of the United States!

Photobucket

That was brilliant on McCain's part, can you imagine Hillry's reaction this morning? I mean, shunned by her own party, and then for the GOP to swoop in and grab that running point? As Rush Limbaugh said: 'Ousted by the other woman...again.'
Mrs. Palin has soooooo much going for her. She is a hunter and life member of the NRA, she is pro-life, she has a child with Down's syndrome, she has a son being deployed to Iraq soon. She also has been a governor for two years; and in case anyone was wondering why that is significant, Obama, has only had 143 days on the senate, so the more he and his party complain about her 'lack experience', the more foolish they look.

I think I'll chuckle about this ALL day!

From the Kitchen of BWASB

Today was a baking day, I have made 6 loaves of banana bread and I tried and modified this recipe:
Pumpkin Things (cookies)
1c brown sugar
1c white sugar
1c butter
2ish cups straight canned pumpkin
2tsp vanilla
2c white flour
1½c noatmeal
½ c oats
2tsp b.powder
2tsp b.soda
At least 2½ tsp cinnamon
1/8ish tsp nutmeg and cloves (to taste)
½ tsp salt

Cream sugar, butter and vanilla. Add pumpkin and salt. Beat well. Add the dry ingredients. Beat well. If the dough is dry add 1-2tsp of milk. If you have a Pampered Chef cookie dough scoop thing, use that, otherwise just use spoons.
Drop them on to an ungreased cookie sheet and bake them at 375 for about 12 minutes. They should be two shades of golden brown darker than the top of the cookie. Let them sit on the cookie sheet for one or two minutes before putting them on the cooling rack. Enjoy!

Okay, I'm sure there are those of you who think that 'noatmael' is a typo. It is not. You take 2c oats and 1/2c of ground flax seed, toss it in a blender with a 1/2 cup of nuts-I used hazelnuts, pecans, and walnuts- then you grind them till the mix reaches the constancy of flour. Voila, noatmeal. I also took a tablespoon of noatmeal and three of water and zapped it for about a minute- or rather till it got gooey- added some sugar and it was quite tasty!

Alrighty then!

I AM SOOOO TIRED!

The no knock went just fine. The punk drug dealer had a huge pit bull.It tried to attack Pippin...it no longer has eyes. (shudder)
Then at my other job we had a wedding that dragged on, and on, and on...'till about one this morning. We wanted to go turn the lights on at about 11:30. They were to busy getting drunk. So we sat back in the the China,Glass,Silver (CGS) room and polished a ton of silverware, and folded a bunch on napkins. I didn't realise how MESSY drunk people are. When we finally got to go clean the room, there was dirnks spilled,pins bent and stuck into the table cloths, I won't bore with the rest. Well I feel much better now I've ranted. Thank you so much for reading this far. ;) Well I'm going to go eat, new post much latter. Oh, maybe I'll have some of my skirt done and pictures up!!

Intresting policy, if you give them notice, but not two weeks worth, you can never come back. Darn, I was really hoping to come back and take a pay cut. Hummmm, whatever.

I Suck At Keeping A Journal.

Well that was fun. Let's never do it again.

Well I was going to see Sweeny Todd, but after the review that Leggyloser gave it, I think I'll just keep my two hours, thank you very much!
I went and saw Iron Man. That was fun, lots of well timed explosions, sufficient snarky-ness and sarcasm. The only problem is when he (Stark) realizes that-O horror of horrors!- the weapons that he makes, actually kill people! Who'da tunkit?!? BUT other than that side step from logic it was fun. DO NOT go see this for the plot. Go see it for the explosions, rockin'awesome suit, or the robotic comic relief...think Gir, but less mouthy.

Hey! Where's my moose?
